Welcome to Mountain Harvest CSA!

We will not be operating our CSA for the 2013 Season due to our ongoing

groundwater concerns.  Please contact our friends at Route 1 Farms if you

wish to join a CSA in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  Thank you!

Community Supported Agriculture is a model of local food distribution, which benefits consumers, small farms and the environment. Mountain Harvest CSA members are assured that the produce they receive is locally grown, certified organic by CCOF and harvested on the day of delivery specifically for them. By partnering directly with the community, our small farm is able to focus on producing an abundant, diverse harvest with our subscribers’ nutritional needs in mind. Reducing the transportation, refrigeration and food-waste costs associated with growing for the traditional, market-based food distribution system allows us to offer a greater quantity of fresher, more sustainably-produced food at a lower price.

How It Works:

By purchasing a share of our harvest, you will receive a weekly box of organic fruits and vegetables. We are offering one box size for $20/week, which is designed to accommodate 2-4 people.

CSA Details:

The cost of the season is $400 for 20 weeks. We give the option to pay for half at a time ($200/10 weeks). There will be a limited number of sliding scale shares for our low income members. We encourage you to sign up early because we expect to reach full capacity. Each week you will pick up your box at the Summit Vet on the designated day (Tuesday or Friday) between 4:30 and 6:30 PM.  We will provide a weekly online newsletter with recipes incorporating the week’s vegetables. You will have the option to receive a text or e-mail reminder on the morning of your pick-up day. Please remember to bring a bag or box to take your produce home.

FAQs:

What if I missed the start date but I still want to sign up?

If there is still a slot available, you can register for the remainder of the season at a prorated price.

Can I choose the items I receive?

By becoming a member you are sharing in the seasonal crops that our farm grows. We plan quantities

and crop selection for the weekly boxes ahead of time. Therefore, we are not able to create custom boxes.

Is all your produce organic?

Yes.  We are Certified Organic by CCOF.

Can I try this out for a short time to see if I like it?

We do not offer this option because we rely on community support. Please visit LocalHarvest.org/CSA for

more information on the CSA model.

What if I can’t pick up my box?

We do not offer refunds on boxes. We encourage you to have a relative or friend pick up your box for you.

Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if no one will pick up your box. We will donate it to a

local charity or family in need.

Do you offer “add-ons”?

We will likely offer add-ons from local artisans, as well as flower bouquets from our farm. We are still

working out the details but these will be available for purchase at the pick-up site on a first-come basis.
